Economic Changes Four days ago I proposed economic changes for feedback from the staff team. After a few minor adjustments they will now come into affect. It shouldn't affect your day-to-day usability of Gravity but will play a part of how things will work from now onwards regarding the economic status of Gravity. When you think of a forum you don't consider that they'd have to think about plans for economic stability but I believe this is one of the reasons why a currency is not as good idea as some may think. If you haven't set out an economic plan of how this currency will flow around your site, you may find yourself in a spot of bother. This spot is exactly what Gravity has been in for the past couple of weeks and I've been working (and even researching economics) about how we can fix this. Our problem with the economy is simply that money is generated but not used. Flying Cat proposed that we introduce a maximum Credit limit to prevent further hoarding of Credits which risks our economy. Whilst I don't necessarily agree with this (nor am I really against it) he received a large portion of the vote so it was to be considered, but many of you spoke out against these plans and we listened. As such the limit has been removed from the original draft of the proposal and will not go into affect. What will happen is this: I will make an amendment to our constitution as my right as Owner (refer to ARTICLE 1.9) that will make it illegal for administration of Gravity to generate money without prior approval from the Named Director. When I say "generate money" the best example of this is money given out (or spawned) in events/competitions. Instead we will find money by other means for administrative expenditure (spending/funding), like such...
These sources of expenditure will be funded by the following means...
Thanks everyone for being so dedicated to Gravity we have to make plans to ensure you don't have too much money! - Scott Cummins (Ferby) · Named Director. |

Newly registered users of the forum aren't able to send money within the first seven days of their account being created, which is the same time-frame they're able to apply for a Newbie Grant. This restricts people from essentially money farming. Anyone who goes out of their way to do so will receive severe punishment. |

It doesn't really restrict it though, surely? I could create an account called The2 now, request for the newbie grant, wait seven days, send it over to The. Rinse and repeat. |

In theory yes you could, but further restricting new users of sending money to other users is sign of mistrust and discourages them from being apart of our community. You yourself have said that it's not likely that people will attempt to cheat the system and I agree, so this doesn't mean we should restrict it further and impact the user experience of those new to our community. If any user is seen to be money farming then I'm prepared to issue dated banned (i.e. banning the user for a few weeks) and strip that user of their recognition of membership. However this is only at the top of my head so no official consequence has been written. |
